Panthers Basketball Wrap-up
On Wednesday, April 22nd, the Boys Intermediate Basketball Team traveled to Weldon for the County tournament. The team played their best basketball of the year, battling hard to finish first overall in the round robin stage!
While foul trouble and injuries led to a heartbreaking overtime loss in the finals to a strong Langton team, their growth this season was undeniable. Mr. Toplak, Coach Luis, and Ms. Likuski are incredibly proud of the teamwork and grit the boys displayed all season long. A big thank you for representing Parkview goes to the following students: Owen, Khai, Mason, Wendel, Michael, James, Jack, Griffin, Arian, Ben, JB, and Calvin.
On Tuesday April 14th, our Intermediate Girls Basketball team travelled to Weldon, the girls delivered a phenomenal effort making it to the semi finals where they battled through injury to place third overall. Although we lost to Jack Callaghan, Ms. Hamilton and Mr. Toplak are very proud of all the determination and grit they showed throughout the tournament.
Great work to Frankie, Bella, Sadie, Sarina, Ruby, Bella, Saya, Lily, Alanna, Kaylee, and Presley.
Junior Basketball- On Friday, April 17th, the Junior Mixed basketball team participated in the County AA basketball tournament held at Fenelon Falls SS. They began the day by playing a very strong Rolling Hills team and an equally strong, and very talented, Bobcaygeon team (who ended up as county champs). However, the big match (for bragging rights!) was their last game vs their town rival, Alexandra PS. For decades, these two teams have battled it out. Unfortunately, this year, Parkview was on the losing end of a close game. All team members showed outstanding sportsmanship and character, and were amazing representatives for Parkview. Mr. MacLean is very proud of your efforts and hopes you continue a path in basketball. The team consisted of: Louie, Henry, Nevae, Birdie, Alex, Josh, Jersey, Bethany, Jackson, DJ, Kira, Summer, Cohen, Hunter, Pilar, Preston and Claire.
Assembly next week…
On Thursday, May 1, we will be holding our monthly assembly. This is a time that we recognize our Panthers that have perfect attendance records for the month. We also recognize those students that have exemplified our “Be Good People” focus for the month. April’s focus has been “Self Control”. Please be sure to wear your house shirt or house colours to represent!
EQAO Coming Soon
It’s almost that time of year again. Soon our grade 3 and 6 students will be engaged in writing the annual EQAO Assessment. The board’s window is between May 25 and June 9. Information will be sent home from classroom teachers about specific dates and times.
